Al-Qaeeda is responsible for deaths not only in the US but right across the world. They and the hate that they preach need to be eradicated and there is no question about that.

Bear in mind that they have already succeeded if rest of the civilised world begin to react and behave like them. Treatment of Dr Aafia and her children without recourse to due legal process and justice only plays into the hands of Al Qaeeda.

I believe that there is a possibility that a number of those who were arrested over the years following 9/11 by the Pakistani security agencies might have had some link with the extremists, or might have sympathised with the Jihadis, or might have been wannabe Jihadis themselves. But the civilised world is different from extremists in its adherence to human laws and values. Even in worst of circumstances illegal detentions and inhuman treatment of prisoners without any recourse to law and justice should not be acceptable.

I absolutely agree about the importance of humane treatment for this poor woman, and I am equally shocked to hear that her children appear to have been missing. I have tried to research this issue on the web and everything is terribly confusing and contradictory. So it is hard to know the truth. However, as you rightly say, the issue is about just and humane treatment of one hu8man being to another.
